Skincare Tips to Show Yourself Some Love

Skincare Tips to Show Yourself Some Love

Skincare is more than trends, fads, or removing our imperfections. For me, skincare is one of the many ways I show my self-love and care. Each day and night, I value the time I have to just take a few minutes and redirect my energy back to myself. Frankly, now after having introduced skincare into my daily life, it is now something I look forward to - and miss if I skip it

Another important benefit of skincare is that it is something you can do for yourself that can give you visible results. Our skin is one of the largest indicators of how we are feeling internally- emotionally and mentally. If you are stressed out, your skin will react in a way to tell you to relax and give yourself some ‘TLC’.

So, here are my skincare tips to show yourself some love:

1. Always remember to wash your face every morning and night.

I know it might seem obvious but washing your face is crucial for maintaining the health of your skin. I only personally use products that are gentle on my skin to keep my skin barrier healthy, but strong enough to remove things like SPF or makeup. I usually use Acure’s Sensitive and Soothing Cleanser both in the morning and at night. As always, my last tip for properly cleansing your face is to only wash your face at the sink. Washing in the shower can dry out your skin from all of the hot water!

2. Invest in quality, feel-good ingredients

There is no better way to show yourself, and your skin some love, than investing in yourself. That means using ingredients that make you feel good, and just because something is high quality, does not mean it needs to break the bank. Some feel-good, and reasonably-priced products I enjoy are:

SunBum Daily Lotion with SPF: Sheer, light-weight, and vegan. Every skincare routine needs a daily SPF to protect their skin!

FaceTheory Relaxing Night Cream: Cruelty-free and made with hydrating ingredients (with scents that also help you get that beauty rest)

3. Consider the season when applying your skincare

Your skin’s needs can easily change depending on the weather and temperature you live in. This is why I am a big believer in seasonal skincare. For example, using a higher grade SPF in the Summer, or more hydrating cream-based moisturizers during the Winter. I have some useful guides on how to love your skin for both the Winter and the Summer - check them out!

4. To remember that you are already beautiful!

Self-love is knowing that you deserve to be treated with love and respect. Not just by others but also yourself! Skincare is just a way to help you take care of yourself, and respect the beauty you already possess. Whatever cream, gel, or lotion you use, these are just tools to show love and to give your skin the nutrients it needs. Remember to love yourself as you are!

Now just a reminder before you go and change up your beauty routine, check with your dermatologist before incorporating any new or harsh products!
